NI households 'embracing' energy-saving methods
Households across Northern Ireland are stepping up their efforts to cut back on domestic energy consumption, new statistics suggest.
Almost two-thirds (64 per cent) of homes across the country use energy-saving lightbulbs, the Independent reported.
The Central Survey Unit data showed that this means households are not only able to reduce their carbon footprint, they are also in a position to save money on their annual lighting bills.
Half of households across Northern Ireland now consider themselves to be 'environmentally aware', the figures revealed.
Of these people, 44 per cent have taken action to cut back on their home energy consumption at some point over the past year.
